X68000

The YMF262 was made by Yamaha and is used in several early Sound Blaster Cards aswell as the MSX OPL3 Cartridge. It’s also known as the OPL3 (FM Operator Type-L 3) and is the follow up to the YM3812 (OPL2), to which it is fully compatible. It was superseded by the YMF278 (OPL4) and comes in 2 different Packages, the YMF262-S and the YMF262-M.

Emulation

• Arcade | Since YMF262 is used in many Arcade Systems, it works fine in M1. M1 is a music player which is based on MAME and thus supports a lot of Arcade Games. More about M1 can be found here.
• AdLib / Creative Cards | Music written for the Sound Cards mentioned above can be in many different formats. AdPlug is a Plug-In for Winamp, DOS, UNIX and XMMS that plays a lot of these formats. It can be obtained here.
• PC-98 Sound Blaster 16 | This Sound Card is emulated through Hoot.
