YM2203 (OPN)

The YM2203 was made by Yamaha and is found in lots of arcade games aswell as several japanese Homecomputers. It is also known as the OPN (FM Operator type – N).
It is also an enhanced version of the earlier YM2149 / AY-3-8910 Chips, to which it adds 3 FM Sound Channels. Otherwise the functionality is the same with even the software being compatible. It was later superseded by the YM2612 (OPN2).
The Name on the Chip is YM2203C.
