Mikey

Mikey was made by Atari and is used inside the Atari Lynx. Its not a dedicated Soundchip but the Main CPU of the System (besides a second one that handles the Graphics) and is based off an 6502.

Technical Specifications

  • Channels: 4
  • Channel 1-4: Synthesizes either a Squarewave or plays back one of 6185 different Waveforms
  • Stereo: Only with the Lynx II
  • DAC: 8-bit, one DAC for each channel
  • 6-bit Volume (=64 Steps)
  • Adjustable Envelope with Attack / Hold / Decay

Variants

  • none, though the Lynx II adds stereo-out.

Emulation

  • To my knowledge there is no sound format for the Lynx that allows replaying the songs on your pc.
